Fotolia Desktop is an application based on Adobe Air, that gives you access to a photography, illustration, vectors and video browser from where you can purchase them.

Depending on the size and quality of the material you're interested in the price will be higher or lower, going for (2,40€) in the case of smaller photographs and up to (60€) for high definition videos.

The database that comes with Fotolia is impressive, having for example, more than 250.000 results when searching for the word 'silhouette' (very useful elements for some graphic designers).

Fotolia Desktop is an interesting application for photography or editing professionals. However, the rest of the users will possibly not understand the usefulness of paying for a photo.
